Eskenazi Health is one of America’s five largest safety net health systems, providing care to nearly 1 million outpatient visits each year. Its mission is to Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve, with special emphasis on the vulnerable populations of Marion County, Indiana. As one of the leading providers of health care in Central Indiana, physicians of the Indiana University School of Medicine provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services within the 315-bed hospital and inpatient facilities as well as over 30 primary and mental health facilities located throughout Indianapolis.
Eskenazi Health is home to the first of two adult Level I trauma centers in Indiana and the region’s only adult burn center, the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health. Accredited by The Joint Commission, Eskenazi Health has nationally recognized programs, including Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health and the Eskenazi Health Healthy Aging Brain Center, and is the supervising hospital for Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services, the city’s primary EMS provider.
In December 2013, Eskenazi Health moved to its new main campus and opened the brand new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. The new modern and efficient facility is on track to become the country’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver campus and offers unique features like a one-of-a-kind sky farm and extensive art collection. Eskenazi Health, formerly Wishard Health Services, was the recipient of $40 million gift from Indianapolis couple Sidney and Lois Eskenazi to assist with building the brand new hospital facilities. HHC recognized this generous gift by naming the new hospital and health system in the Eskenazis’ honor.
