Our Mission: Promote and protect the health of the elderly by providing health care to seniors, including those who are underserved.
Our Vision: The seniors in the Greater Indianapolis area will be the healthiest in the United States by the year 2020. The Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC) has a long tradition of providing exceptional service with special focus on the health and well being of older Hoosiers. Our goal is to improve the lives of elderly and chronically infirmed individuals in Indiana. In 1995, our first skilled nursing facility was opened on the campus of Wishard Hospital. Lockfield Village provided services for elderly and chronically infirmed citizens of Indianapolis until 2009 when the facility was closed to make way for the relocation and new construction of the hospital. Since 2003, we have focused on the acquisition of nursing homes that are in need of capital improvements and sound management practices.
Our Long Term Care Division is a great example of a municipal healthcare corporation and private enterprise working together to serve a vulnerable population. HHC, along with our private-sector partner, American Senior Communities (ASC), operates 60 health care communities through out Indiana. There are 13 skilled nursing facilities and three assisted living facilities operated by HHC in Marion County and six additional locations in the surrounding counties. Our facilities have outstanding care coordination and transfer agreements with all Indianapolis area hospitals. ASC has a reputation for providing quality rehabilitative, memory care and long-term care services. For more information about American Senior Communities or their services, visit ASCSeniorCare.com.
