Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC) operates Marion County Public Health DepartmentEskenazi HealthEskenazi Health FoundationIndianapolis EMS and Long Term Care.

HHC is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees, whose members are appointed by the Mayor of Indianapolis, the City-County Council and the County Commissioners.

Our Mission is to promote and protect the health of everyone in the community and provide healthcare to those who are underserved.

Heads up: Our Vital Records department, which issues birth and death certificates, will be closed tomorrow. Normal business hours will resume Monday, November 10.

Sandy Cummings, Administrator of our Chronic Disease program, received the Outstanding Public Health Advocate Award from the Indiana Public Health Association, which someone who has supported public health priorities that enhance the health and well-being of Indiana communities.

HHC, MCPHD and several other organizations set up tables at the Community Cookout / Fall Resource Fair event to provide information and to link people to resources. Plus, some workers went door to door in the neighborhood to provide outreach, and to clean up litter in the area.

The City of Indianapolis presented Maryori Duarte-Sheffield, a Health Educator in MCPHD’s Healthy Homes, Environmental Consumer Management, and Senior Care program, with the 2025 Mayor’s Latino Heritage Community Leadership Award on Oct. 24.
