Long Term Care

Our Mission: Promote and protect the health of the elderly by providing health care to seniors, including those who are underserved.

Our Priority: We are focused on the health, safety and well-being of our residents, their families and our staff.

Our Vision: The Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC) has a long tradition of providing exceptional service with special focus on the health and well-being of older Hoosiers. Our goal is to improve the lives of elderly and chronically infirmed individuals in Indiana.

In 1995, we opened our first skilled nursing facility on the campus of Wishard Hospital. Lockefield Village provided services for elderly and chronically infirmed residents of Indianapolis until 2009, when the facility was closed to make way for construction of the new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.

Since 2003, we have focused on the acquisition of nursing homes that were in need of capital improvements and sound management practices. By owning these facilities, HHC substantially improves the quality of care its residents receive. HHC’s investment in our facilities is more than double the average investment in similar facilities across Indiana, and our quality scores greatly exceed state and national averages.

Working with our long-term care partner, American Senior Communities (ASC), HHC operates 78 skilled nursing facilities, five assisted living communities and 340 garden homes across Indiana. ASC has a reputation for providing quality rehabilitative, memory care and long-term care services, and our facilities have outstanding care coordination and transfer agreements with all Indianapolis area hospitals.
