Media

Reporters represent the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County and the Marion County Public Health Department’s best outlet to the general public and it is important that the public be informed on all of the organization’s functions and activities.

We welcome media attention and recognize that it is to the advantage of the corporation and all those we represent to be cooperative, cordial and professional with the media at all times.

The HHC/MCPHD public relations department is authorized to arrange all interviews and photographs by the news media on any of the corporation’s properties. The public relations staff shall escort media representatives or meet them at the location during their visit. The following subjects are never to be discussed about any client, even with authorization:

  1. Alcohol or drug use
  2. Poisoning
  3. Sexual assault
  4. Suicide or attempted suicide
  5. AIDS or HIV status

No part of the employee, patient or client medical record can be released to the news media.

Having recognized the benefit of contact with the media and to avoid conflict and any misinterpretation regarding the corporation’s media policy, it is necessary that the following guidelines be adhered to:

Access to Public Records

Any media or individual wanting access to public records or other public information from HHC and/or MCPHD must submit a public records request. A per page fee will apply.
