Health Department Vaccinates 2,200 in Last Six Days

The Marion County Health Department vaccinated more than 475 children during today’s back to school immunization clinic at Lawrence North High School. An additional 120 children were seen by health department staff but did not need a vaccination.

Combined with those vaccinated during week long clinics at Lafayette Square Mall, the Marion County Health Department has immunized more than 2,200 students in the last six days.

“We appreciate those parents who took time from work, took their children out of school or spent part of their Saturday to have their child vaccinated. While we have too many children still needing their immunizations, we applaud those families who have taken the time to have their child vaccinated,” said Virginia A. Caine, M.D., director, Marion County Health Department.

The health department estimates more than 30,000 Marion County students still do not meet back to school vaccination requirements.

Those with children needing required school immunizations are strongly encouraged to go to one of the five Marion County Health Department locations offering vaccinations next week. The locations, days and hours of operation are available at www.mchd.com.
