Health Department H1N1 Clinic A Success
More than 2,500 people received H1N1 vaccine during today’s Marion County Health Department H1N1 flu public vaccination clinic.
The turnout of 2,564 individuals was within projections and represented the largest single vaccination clinic sponsored by the Marion County Health Department in recent years. Individuals began to arrive at 3 a.m. and at one point more than 1,000 people were waiting in line for the clinic to open at 8 a.m.
Held at Lafayette Square Mall, the clinic was the first time Marion County residents could get the H1N1 vaccine outside of a private healthcare office.
“We were impressed with the large number of children brought to the clinic. We also were able to vaccinate many women who are pregnant, so we feel this clinic was successful,” said Melissa McMasters, one of several clinic organizers.
The clinic moved smoothly and a majority of those attending were able to complete the vaccination process within an hour.
For those unable to attend the Lafayette Square clinic, six additional H1N1 vaccination clinics are scheduled Saturday. HealthNet will host the clinics from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clinics also will offer seasonal flu shots. For more information about the HealthNet clinics, go to www.indyhealthnet.org
