Health Department Announces Free Tire Drop-off Program
The Marion County Health Department’s free Tire Amnesty Day will be held Saturday, June 13 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at three drop-off locations.
Marion County residents can bring up to six passenger car tires, off of the rim, to the drop off locations. All tires collected will be recycled.
The drop off locations include:
- Marion County Health Department Mosquito Control, 4001 East 21st Street
- POMP’s Tire, 2120 South Harding Street
- J.R.’s Used Tires, 3519 West 10th Street
“The dark color of the tire attracts and retains heat, holds enough water to hatch eggs and offers protection from predators and chemical treatments,” said Chuck Dulla, administrator, mosquito control. “These mosquitoes are linked to West Nile virus in humans,” said Dulla.
