Health Department Announces H1N1 Vaccinations for Non-Public School Students
As part of its school-based H1N1 flu vaccination clinics, the Marion County Health Department has announced its plans to vaccinate children attending non-public schools.
The health department has contracted with Coming of Age Flu Central, a nursing agency that will provide vaccinations to students attending Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Pius, St. Matthew, St. Roch, St. Jude, Nativity, St. Christopher, St. Michael, St. Simon and Holy Spirit. Parents of students attending these schools will be informed about the specific dates for these clinics once those dates have been confirmed.
On Tuesday, December 8, the Marion County Health Department will provide vaccine to students attending St. Andrew/St. Rita, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Monica, Brebeuf, Central Catholic, St. Mark, St. Phillip, St. Monica and Providence Cristo Rey.
Park Tudor will receive vaccinations December 8 and December 9.
On Wednesday, December 9, the health department will provide vaccinations to those attending Little Flower, Scecina, Cathedral, Ritter, Christ the King, St. Thomas and St. Gabriel.
On Thursday, December 10, students attending St. Lawrence, Holy Cross, Holy Name and Lumen Christi will be vaccinated. On Friday, December 11, students attending Roncalli and Chatard will be vaccinated.
On Tuesday, December 15, students who attend Holy Angels, St. Anthony and St. Joan of Arc will be vaccinated.
St. Barnabas school students will be offered the vaccine on Wednesday, December 16. St. Richard Episcopal received vaccine today.
Other religious, private and charter schools are being contacted about scheduling H1N1 vaccine clinics. Any school that has not been contacted is asked to call the health department at 221-2299.
H1N1 vaccine consent forms must be completed and signed in order to receive a vaccination. Students are encouraged to eat prior to receiving a vaccine.
Those with questions can contact the Marion County Health Department Flu Helpline at 221-3366. The helpline is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
