ABCs of Diabetes Announces Classes for 2016

INDIANAPOLIS – The Marion County Public Health Department announces the ABCs of Diabetes class schedule for 2016. ABCs of Diabetes is a free four-part diabetes self-management series offered monthly, January-November.

The series includes instruction on medications, nutrition, exercise, monitoring, complications and available community resources. Class members will participate in individual consultations with a registered dietitian and a registered nurse.

ABCs of Diabetes is open to anyone with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Family members and friends are also welcome. Participants should plan to attend all four classes of the session they choose.

The Marion County Public Health Department recently earned its second accreditation for ABCs of Diabetes through the American Association for Diabetes Educators’ (AADE) Diabetes Education Accreditation Program.

Accredited programs must meet or exceed ten standards for program structure, access, staffing, curriculum and services for participants and must be able to demonstrate its effectiveness.
