Eskenazi Health

Eskenazi Health is one of America’s largest safety net health systems, providing care through more than 1 million outpatient visits each year. Its mission is to Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve, with special emphasis on the vulnerable populations of Marion County, Indiana. As one of the leading providers of health care in Central Indiana, physicians of the Indiana University School of Medicine provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services within the 333-bed hospital and inpatient facilities as well as over 30 primary and mental health facilities located throughout Indianapolis.

Accredited by The Joint Commission and named one of the nation’s 150 best places to work by Becker’s Hospital Review, Eskenazi Health’s programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community. As the sponsoring hospital for Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services, the city’s primary EMS provider, Eskenazi Health is also home to the first adult Level I trauma center in Indiana, the only verified adult burn center in Indiana and the first community mental health center in Indiana, Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center.

In December 2013, Eskenazi Health moved to its new downtown campus and opened Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. The downtown campus achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold certification in 2015, making it the first in Indiana and one of the largest new campuses in the United States to receive this recognition. It offers unique features like a one-of-a-kind Sky Farm and extensive art collection.

Eskenazi Health was the recipient of a $40 million gift from Indianapolis couple Sidney and Lois Eskenazi to assist with building the brand new hospital facilities. Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County, which oversees Eskenazi Health, recognized this generous gift by naming the new hospital and health system in the Eskenazis’ honor.
