Lawrence North H1N1 Clinic Vaccinates More Than 2,500

The Marion County Health Department vaccinated more than 2,500 individuals during its December 5 public H1N1 influenza clinic held at the Lawrence North High School Fieldhouse.

With adequate supplies of vaccine, a large venue, good parking and the support of the MSD of Lawrence Township, the health department was able to provide vaccine to 2,531 individuals in the high-risk category.

“It was a cold morning and we appreciate the patience and cooperation shared by those who came to the clinic. It was a smooth process and we are pleased we were able to vaccinate another large group of people,” said Virginia A. Caine, M.D., director, Marion County Health Department.

The Lawrence Township clinic was the fifth held by the Marion County Health Department.

Beginning December 8, the health department will continue its school-based vaccinations in area public middle and high schools. The health department is also coordinating vaccination clinics in non-public elementary and secondary schools.

Those having flu-related questions can contact the health department’s 221-3366 bilingual flu helpline. The helpline is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Information is also available at www.mchd.com.
