Special Activities Focus on Enrolling Uninsured Before March 31 Deadline

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The deadline for acquiring health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is March 31. Covering Kids & Families of Central Indiana is offering a special outreach during Enroll Indiana Week to help people navigate health insurance options and get covered.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Avondale Meadows YMCA, located at 3908 Meadows Dr. in the Avondale Meadows Health & Wellness Center, on March 12 and 13 to enjoy health-related activities while learning more about health insurance plans for themselves and their family.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12
9 a.m.-7 p.m. • ACA enrollment and vendor booths
11 a.m.-2 p.m . • Rev. Charles Williams Mobile Prostate Unit offers prostate education
4-7 p.m. • IU Women on Wheels health bus provides blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, pregnancy and physician consultations
4-7 p.m. • Ask-A-Doc Get Up and Get Moving activity
5-5:45 p.m. • Garden on the Go offers fresh fruits and vegetables for sale Vouchers for this will be offered to those at the event who enroll in an ACA health plan or Medicaid; or participate in either prostate education or a Women on Wheels health screening
6-7 p.m. • Healthy lifestyle activity

“Health insurance is a vital step on the path toward a healthy life,” said Pamela Humes, director of Covering Kids and Families of Central Indiana. “We want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to get covered so they can receive proper medical care.”
