Quality Oversight

Strategic Oversight

Led by Julie White, Vice President of LTC, HHC’s LTC Division provides continuous oversight of all HHC-owned skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The division maintains a robust partnership with ASC, conducting frequent reviews that span clinical, financial, and operational performance.

Under the direction of Philip Benson, Director of Quality Review, HHC performs comprehensive clinical and administrative quality reviews at every facility at least annually. High-priority facilities receive more frequent reviews based on internal controls, CMS ratings, state surveys, and management stability. These reviews include rigorous clinical record audits, medication pass and meal observations, and interviews with residents, resident families, and staff. Following these visits, HHC and ASC collaborate to implement action plans and policy revisions that address any identified quality concerns.

Furthermore, since 2023, a dedicated Facilities Project Manager has inspected all locations for Life Safety Code and Emergency Preparedness compliance, as well as environmental and capital needs.

Quality of Care

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program–based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework–provides a rigorous pathway for providers to achieve performance excellence. As of 2025, HHC facilities have earned 68 Bronze Awards for Commitment to Quality and 39 Silver Awards for Achievement in Quality.

To build upon this standard of excellence, HHC continues to invest in specialized personnel and resources to further enhance operations and resident outcomes.
