Long Term Care

Our Mission: Promote and protect the health of the elderly by providing health care to seniors, including those who are underserved.

Our Priority: We are focused on the health, safety and well-being of our residents, their families and our staff.

Our Vision: Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC) has a long tradition of providing exceptional service with special focus on the health and well-being of older Hoosiers. Our goal is to improve the lives of elderly and chronically infirmed individuals in Indiana.

In 1995, we opened our first skilled nursing facility on the campus of Wishard Hospital. Lockefield Village provided services for elderly and chronically infirmed residents of Indianapolis until 2009, when the facility was closed to make way for construction of the new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.

Since 2003, we have focused on the acquisition of nursing homes that were in need of capital improvements and sound management practices. By operating these facilities, HHC’s goal is to substantially improve the quality of care and quality of life its residents receive. We consistently achieve quality scores above both state and national averages for Surveys and Quality Measures. Staffing scores continue to improve.

Working with our long-term care partner, American Senior Communities (ASC), HHC manages our 72 skilled nursing facilities (7876 licensed beds), assisted living communities (342 licensed beds) and 294 independent living units across Indiana. ASC has a reputation for providing quality rehabilitation, memory care and long-term care services. Our facilities have outstanding care coordination and transfer agreements with all Indianapolis area hospitals and additional hospitals throughout the State.
