“Good dental health starts at a young age, so it’s important for kids to see a dentist as soon as they have teeth or by age one ,” said Tonya Stewart, D.D.S., director of Dental Services at the Marion County Public Health Department. “Regular check-ups help children develop a healthy smile, and adults play a significant role in establishing these early habits.
” Healthy tips include brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, eating nutritious foods, limiting the intake of sugary carbonated and acidic drinks, visiting the dentist for regular check-ups and cleanings, and wearing a mouth guard during sports.
