Health Department Schedules More Back to School Clinics

The Marion County Health Department has announced additional back to school clinics during the week of October 18. The health department estimates more than 20,000 Marion County students remain without the state required vaccinations. Many of these children could be excluded from attending school without the immunizations.
In order to accommodate the additional clinics, the health department will limit services from its District Health offices on Monday, October 18 and close the District Health Offices and the Georgetown clinic from October 19 through October 22.
A parent or legal guardian must accompany their child to the clinic. Each family should bring a current shot record or letter from school indicating which immunizations the child needs. Having this information will reduce time spent at the clinic.
The health department clinics will be held outdoors, so those coming should dress appropriately and be prepared to wait in long lines. Depending on turnout, the health department may not be able to serve all those coming to the clinic.
Beginning Tuesday, October 19, the Marion County Health Department will provide back to school clinics at 3838 North Rural Street. The clinics will be on a first-come, first serve basis. Cost is $10 per patient and Medicaid will be accepted. The schedule includes:
Monday, October 18
Marion County Health Department District Health Offices will not provide
back to school immunizations, but will provide other health services.
Tuesday, October 19
All District Health Offices will be closed.
