Health Department Announces Flu Clinic Schedule

Beginning Monday, October 4, the Marion County Health Department will hold 17 community flu clinics. The clinics will be held throughout the county, operate on a first-come, first serve basis and charge $15 for a flu shot and $40 for a pneumonia shot. Tetanus shots also will be provided for $20. Medicare will be accepted.

The health department will also host flu clinics through its District Health Offices from October 4 through December 23.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are recommending that anyone age 6 months and older should receive a flu shot. Unlike last year when two flu shots were required, only one flu vaccine will be needed this year.

Young children who did not receive two flu shots last year will be required to have two vaccines this year.
