Attendance Record Shattered At Back to School Event
More than 25,000 people, many standing in line for more than two hours, helped shatter the attendance record at the 10th Annual Covering Kids Family Fun Day.
Held at the Marion County Health Department Saturday, the event featured free school supplies, school-required immunizations, sports physicals and health information from more than 60 participating community agencies. The Indianapolis Fire Department sponsored its second consecutive Fire Safety Festival in conjunction with the annual health fair.
“What a tremendous day for our community; an example of what can be accomplished when we work together for a common cause,” said Pamela Humes, director of Covering Kids and Families of Central Indiana.
More than 16,000 people attended the 2009 event, which set an attendance record from the previous year.
